Warmaster: Skaven army

Last 4 months have been very poor in my hobby performance (summer, holidays, social life and activities after long time), so now I need to restart my effort and finish what I have started.

But first a small recap.

My first skaven unit for warmaster were Plague monks of clan Pestilense, their robes looked very easy to paint. But it was a terrible mistake. It took me hours to finish them.

So first unit was done. And I was afraid to start with another one. So I decided to make some heroes and general. But for this, I had to do a research in the proper skaven books. After few hours, first hero was chosen.

Packmaster Skweel Gnawtooth with his wolf-rat Gutsnagger and few other skaven pets.

Then I made a mistake. I found an old book in my Library - Skavenslayer. So I read it again and it brought me to my next character.

"Boneripper, quick quick. Bite slay kill!"
Grey Seer Thanquol and Boneripper, my skaven general.

It was a very nice moment to finish such two "legendary heroes" and bring them to tabletop life. Next heroes followed.

Lord Skrolk, Plague lord of Clan Pestilens, also known as the Disease-That-Walks.

Throt the Unclean, one of the most twisted and ingenious Master Mutators of Clan Moulder.

In this time I started next stage of my skaven research, heraldry of the clans so I can make nice and colourful army that makes sense (according to lore each army consists of various numbers of diferrent clans). And Clan Gnaw was revealed.

Clan Gnaw is a Warlord Clan that hunts the creatures and Orc tribes that dwell within the Badlands. Their captured prizes fetch an impressive price in Hell Pit. Fighters in the lower ranks of the clan color their fur to immitate and thereby flatter their leaders, who wear capes fashioned from the furs of their unlucky prey. Clan Gnaw swore alliance to Clan Moulder and is therefore always ready to answer its call for war.

But as I understood it, wars are won by soldiers in warmaster. So next unit was chosen.

Clan Mors Stormvermin and Hell Pit Abomination (count as Doomwheel).

Next I needed a hero to lead my stormvermin brigade. And it was an easy pick.

Warlord Queek Headtaker, is the legendary and much-feared Lord of the City of Pillars, Great Warlord of Clan Mors and the personal right-claw of Warlord Gnawdwell, the one and true Grand Ruler of Clan Mors. He wields the magical maul Dwarf Gouger, an ancient weapon forged during the time of the Goblin Wars.

2 warlocks followed. First of them, Ikit Claw, Chief Warlock Engineer of Clan Skryre, is one of the most ambitious and talented Warlock-Engineers of his age.

Second one was a Warlock engineer of Clan Skryre tinkering with his Warpdust distiller, hoping to improve its performance.

I found out that a lot of units are not included in wmr army lists (such as hellpit abominations). One of them is Verminlord. But it didn't stop me from making one for my force.

Skweevritch, Verminlord of Clan Skyre (count as grey seer). I Found this guy on thingiverse (with other great models), just pimp him with additional horns, fur and tail from gs, absolutely love him

So my command secrion was completed and I switched for more foot-soldiers again.

Clan Rictus Stormvermin followed by Two units of wolf rats (planning to play them as clanrats for moulder clan themed army).

So I never mentioned my most favourite unit. Rat swarms. They were great for painting in large numbers. So after 2 months I reached 1.000 pts. in full paint.

I realised that I am short of shooting so I picked my next few units. Deathmaster Snikch, overseeing the deployment  of artillery (Warp lightning cannons) by a warlock engineer and setting up an ambush with his Gutter runners, should the enemy be foolish enough to dare and attack the vulnerable cannons.

Still short of foot-sloggers I focused more on the regular units. As a result I finished pure Clan Pestilens "brigade".

The third unit of Plague monks was done. I realy like how the purple turned out. So different from the 50 shades of brown.

Plague Priest Sholla with his Brood Horror mount Gnawer-chewer.

Plagueclaw catapults (count as warplightning cannons). The last reinforcements for Clan Pestilens.

Lords of Decay send their regards. Horned Rat approve. Yes-yes.

Also hard hitters were required. So I got some. Rat Ogres were ready to join an invasion force of Grey Seer Thanquol. And second Hellpit Abomination (count as Doom Wheel), in a colours of Clan Gnaw. 😁

Then Clan Skryre sent their regards, two Doomwheels and Screaming Bell have joined the invasion force.

Last addition to hero ranks. Packmaster Schliick and his two loyal companions, Wolf rats Geery and Geely. With 6 units of Wolf rats (count as clanrats).

At least, but not last, anorher reinforcements from Clan Skryre. Poison wind globadiers (count as stormvermin or plague monks for Clan Skryre) and Doomwheel

And that's it. Almost 2.500 pts. in 8 weeks. Thank you for reading. And I hope I will see you soon with new painted models.
